New Delhi, Feb 28 (PTI) Output in eight infrastructure sectors rose 3.7% in January from 1.3% in the same month last year on better performance of coal, natural gas industries and cement, according to official data released on Monday.

Crude oil and fertilizer production recorded negative growth in January. Core sector industries grew by 4.1% in December 2021.

The growth rate of the eight infrastructure sectors – coal, crude oil, natural gas, refined products, fertilizers, steel, cement and electricity – stood at 11.6% in April-January of the financial year, against negative growth of 8.6 percent over the same period last year.

According to the data, the production of coal increased by 8.2%, natural gas by 11.7%, refined products by 3.7% and cement by 13.6% in January.
